Stanley Cup, Calder Cup to make special appearance at Nationwide Arena on Sept. 9 courtesy of Tortorella Family FoundationCOLUMBUS, OHIO – The Stanley Cup, the most storied trophy in sports, and the Calder Cup, awarded in 2016 to Cleveland's Lake Erie Monsters – affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets – and for the past 80 years to the champions of the American Hockey League, will be on display at Nationwide Arena on Friday, September 9 as part of the celebration of that night's World Cup of Hockey 2016 Pre-Tournament game between the United States and Canada.Courtesy of the Tortorella Family Foundation, fans will have the opportunity to take their own photos with the Cups from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Nationwide Arena Activity Center, located near off Nationwide Blvd.near the McConnell Street entrance.

The Columbus Blue Jackets announced on Monday that they have hired former New Jersey Devils forward and Florida Panthers assistant coach, John Madden, to become the head coach of their American Hockey League affiliate, Cleveland Monsters.Madden will replace Jared Bednar behind the bench for the Monsters, after Bednar was named the head coach for the Colorado Avalanche last week, filling the vacancy in Denver left by Patrick Roy.Madden said, "I am really excited and would like to thank the Columbus Blue Jackets organization for the opportunity to serve as head coach of the defending Calder Champion, Cleveland Monsters.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Columbus Blue Jackets announced Monday that three-time Stanley Cup champion John Madden has been named the new head coach of the Cleveland Monsters, their top affiliate in the American Hockey League.Madden replaces Jared Bednar, who led the Monsters to the Calder Cup championship last season before being named head coach of the NHL Colorado Avalanche last week."John Madden has a winning pedigree, having been a part of three Stanley Cup championships and a collegiate national championship as a player and being a part of the coaching staff that helped the Florida Panthers become one of the NHL's most improved clubs over the past three seasons," said Blue Jackets assistant general manager Bill Zito.
