By1 Share Share Tweet Share Share EmailAmerican-born forward Mike Brown has been known around the NHL for the last handful of seasons as a fourth line grinder and physical tough guy – and while he hasn't managed to earn a free agent contract with an NHL club for the upcoming season, he could have one headed his way in the near future.The Columbus Blue Jackets confirmed on Wednesday morning, via Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch, that Brown has been inked to a professional tryout contract with the Metropolitan Division club.Drafted 159th overall by the Vancouver Canucks in 2004, the 31-year-old forward has spent his NHL career with a handful of different clubs – including Vancouver, the Anaheim Ducks, the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Edmonton Oilers, and the Montreal Canadiens.

COLUMBUS - The Blue Jackets are reportedly bringing in another veteran player for a training camp audition.According to Sportsnet hockey insider Chris Johnston, Columbus has signed forward Mike Brown to a professional tryout (PTO) agreement for this year's camp.The 31-year-old native of Northbrook, Ill., played 58 games in 2015-16 split between the San Jose Sharks and Montreal Canadiens, mostly in a fourth-line role.
